New Haven has over 13 miles of streets and roadways.
The city has two drinking water wells, both of which produce clean, high-quality drinking water. The two wells pump an average of 254,000 gallons of water per day.
New Haven’s wastewater is treated in an aerated lagoon located on the east side of the downtown area. The facility is designed to handle up to 330,000 gallons of wastewater per day. The city is currently studying the wastewater system to determine how to best meet its long-term (20+ years) needs.
September 9th, the City of New Haven will hold a public hearing for citizen comments on a proposed change to the Water and Sewer Connection Charges. These charges are for new development only and does not affect a current property owner that is already connected to the water and sewer system. Updating these fees is an essential responsibility of the City to cover the upfront costs of new development and future maintenance of the water and sewer system.
